SURGERY

We at Vets In Practice firmly advocate that surgery is always the last resort in treating conditions and should only be done when there is no better option available. So when surgery is necessary, we make sure to follow the strictest surgical guidelines to minimize risks and complications and to produce positive outcomes. We use only the newest and safest anesthetics, and the best equipment available.

Patients scheduled for surgery undergo blood tests and are thoroughly examined before going under. Their vitals are constantly monitored throughout the whole procedure until they are fully recovered.

CONFINEMENT

Our confinement areas include separate wards for dogs and cats with non-infectious diseases, an isolation ward for infectious cases, an Intensive Care Unit for critically-ill patients, a recovery ward for patients transferred from the ICU and patients recovering from surgery, and lastly, a special ward for exotic animals and avian patients.

A senior resident vet heads and oversees our confinement team composed of resident vets, vet technicians and nurses. Vitals of all confined patients are routinely checked, while those in the ICU are constantly monitored. A night shift resident vet takes over monitoring duties after-hours.

We also have suites where owners can be with their pet during confinement. Having someone the patient knows often brightens their spirits, leading to faster recovery and a shorter hospital stay.

NURSERY

Our Nursery is equipped with incubators designed to provide a temperature-controlled environment for the care and protection of newborns of any specie of companion animal.

Whether they are from a regular delivery or a C-section, the newborns are kept in the incubator until their mothers are ready to nurse.

If for some reason the mother is not able to do so, or if the newborn is orphaned, we have experienced staff who are capable of hand-rearing it until the pet-owners are ready to take over.

PHARMACY

We maintain a well-stocked pharmacy with a large inventory of veterinary pharmaceutical products and medications. We carry a wide array of medicines to treat an extensive range of ailments: from chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, hypothyroidism, congestive heart- and Cushing’s disease, to acute conditions such as viral, bacterial and parasitic infections, or recovery from injury or surgery. High quality brands of canine and
feline prescription diets are available both in canned and dry forms (as well as liquid, for patients that are unable to ingest or digest solid food), to address a broad spectrum of health problems from a nutritional standpoint.

PET STORE

All of our branches have an in-house store where clients can avail of top-of-the-line premium brands of dog and cat food for all life stages (from kitten/puppy, through adulthood to their senior years), as well as food for birds, exotic animals such as snakes, iguanas and tortoises, and small mammals like rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs and hedgehogs.

Also available in our pet stores are a wide variety of:

  • Nutritional supplements

  • Tick and flea prevention products

  • Soaps, shampoos and other grooming aids

  • Eye, ear and skin preparations

  • Treats, toys and accessories

CLINIC-WARE

Introduced into our practice in 2009, this is the premier software
program specifically designed for veterinary hospital management.

With this we were able to shift from the old method of keeping client and patient records on paper files to one that is paperless and fully computerized, saving us space and allowing for quick and easy access to records, which can also include patient charts, x-rays, photos and videos, making record-keeping convenient and highly organized.
